What teeth whitening is

Lightening the colour of teeth without damaging the enamel

Teeth whitening is a process that lightens the colour of the teeth. It works by using hydrogen peroxide at a particular concentration; its active molecules penetrate the enamel and react there with the pigments. The whitening effect is clearly visible, yet the enamel is neither disrupted nor damaged. We offer both in-office and take-home whitening — we recommend the right method after a consultation. Air-polishing with the Airflow method complements it, mechanically removing external pigments from coffee, tea, red wine and smoking.

When is teeth whitening the right choice?

  • You are not happy with the yellowed colour of your teeth

  • You have staining from coffee, tea, red wine or smoking

  • You are planning to replace fillings or have a new crown (the colour of prosthetic work is matched after whitening)

  • A tooth has darkened after the pulp died (whitened individually, by a dentist only)

  • Your teeth are healthy, free of decay, calculus and gum inflammation

Treatment process

How teeth whitening works

  1. 1) Consultation and examination

The dentist assesses the condition of your teeth and judges whether whitening is suitable. Only healthy teeth free of decay, calculus and gum inflammation should be whitened.

  2. 2) Preparing the teeth

We treat any decay and unsatisfactory fillings. Comprehensive dental hygiene follows — removing plaque, calculus and external staining with the Airflow method.

  3. 3) Choosing the whitening method

Together we choose in-office or take-home whitening, based on the condition of your teeth and what you expect.

  4. 4) The whitening itself

For in-office whitening we protect the gums and sensitive parts of the teeth with a special material and use a gel with a higher peroxide concentration. For take-home whitening you apply the gel yourself into individually made trays — with regular checks at the surgery.

  5. 5) Follow-up and looking after the result

We monitor the whitening until the desired shade is reached. Any temporary sensitivity is treated with fluoride preparations.

Doporučuji🤝

Velmi milý a ochotný kolektiv. Chodíme moc rádi. 🤩🫠

Teeth whitening

Answers to the questions patients ask before their visit

Yes, when carried out under the supervision of a dentist or dental hygienist. The whitening gel neither disrupts nor damages the enamel, and risks such as allergies or enamel development disorders are ruled out beforehand.
Whitening temporarily increases the sensitivity of the teeth. In patients with exposed tooth necks the sensitivity can last longer — fluoride preparations, which we will recommend, help reduce it.
With take-home whitening you apply the gel yourself into individually made trays over several days. In-office whitening takes place at the surgery with a higher gel concentration.
Whitening toothpaste can partly remove external pigments from coffee, black tea and smoking, but it will never whiten teeth to the shade you want. Used frequently it also risks damaging the enamel and increasing sensitivity.
Yes — most often a tooth that has darkened because the pulp has died. This type of whitening is carried out by a dentist only, using what is known as internal bleaching.
